What?!

I received an email promoting a Robin Thicke concert in Los Angeles which included this photo.

Robin Thicke?

"The current king of R&B"?   LA Times

"The sound of the next generation of soul"?  Entertainment Magazine

Is this a sign that soul music is dead?

Would someone please throw D'Angelo into a studio and not let him out until he records a new album.

And Beyonce is promoting herself as an Icon. Ne-Yo thinks he's the greatest writer of all time. Rihanna is promoted as a great singer. Obama is going to save the world and is the second coming of Christ. Lil' Wayne is the greatest rapper alive. Plies is the future of rap. Promos are written by promoters. Not once has Robin ever called himself that. Promoters lie, exaggerate, embellish, etc. When someone begins believing their own hype (Beyonce, Kanye, Lil' Wayne, Ne-Yo) then worry. And even at their prime, D' Angelo nor Maxwell were the king. Obama will never compare to the greatness of Martin Luther King, Jr. nor will this generation of soul compare to the past. Kill the comparisons altogether.
